4 Days in Barcelona with Barcelona Card

1st Day

10am arrival at the Airport
Hoping your flight has been good, now is the moment to start your journey in Barcelona. Are you ready?
First thing to do now is to go to the Airport Touristic office and change your Voucher with Barcelona Card. You can reach the city centre using the metro line (L9), the urban bus (number 46) or the train. Choose the fastest option to reach your Hotel or Appartment.

12pm Let’s Start discovering the city
Our starting point of this journey is The Gothic Quarter (Barrio Gotico). It is located in the Old city’s heart and it is characterized for its medieval style. Here you can find different iconic churches that are an important heritage of the city. To visit this quarter you can take advantage of 50% Barcelona Card’s discount for the Walking tour Gótic and discover this quarter paying only €7.-.

If you are not in time or you prefer to enjoy the Gothic Quarter by yourself you can take a walk around its important church which contains an important historical and cultural Barcelona Heritage. Don’t miss out on visiting Basilica de Santa Maria del Pi and Basilica de Santa Maria del Mar.

With a short walk from Basilica de Santa Maria del Mar you can reach the Picasso Museum and enjoy the visit for free.

The last stop for today is the History meuseum of Catalunya, remember to check the opening times. On Monday it is closed, from Tuesday to Friday it is open from 10am to 7pm, on Saturday from 10am to 1pm and on Sunday from 10am to 2:30pm. Here you can discover Catalunya’s history from distant centuries to presents days. At the end of your visit you can have a cup of coffee while enjoying the rooftop view.

2nd Day

After discovering the oldest part of the city you are ready to discover something new and modernistic. So today is Gaudi’s and Catalan modernism time.

Let’s start with a visit to Casa Batlló. It is one of the most iconic symbols in the city and you cannot miss it. Don’t worry if you find a big queue, remember that your Barcelona Card allows you to skip the line and get an entrance discount.

How to get here? With Metro Line L2, L3 and L4 or Buses Line H10, V15, 7, 22 and 24.
It opens at 9 am and closes at 9pm.
The ticket price with Barcelona Card is €22. Visiting Casa Batlló takes around 45 minutes.

The second stop of the day is Casa Milá which is located less than 10 minutes walking from Casa Batllò. Casa Milá is a beautiful construction charcaterized for its curves’ and waves’ geometry.

The discounted entrance ticket here is €19.

To keep going with modern art this day, a good idea would be to visit Disseny museum. From Casa Milà it is less than 40 minutes walking, otherwise you can take the metro line L3 and L1 or the bus line number 7.

The entrance is completely free. Here you can find exhibitions about product design, fashion, graphic design and decorative art.

For the rest of the day the advise is to enjoy free public transport and take a walk around Parc de la Ciutadella and visit Museo d’Història de Catalunya with 20% discount.

3rd Day

Yesterday we discovered the best artistic monuments of Barcelona thanks to Gaudi and the modernism art movement. Let’s discover some natural places and an amazing view of the city today.

Let’s start our tour from Plaza d’Esapanya, an amazing square in Barcelona. From this square it is half an hour walking to the Botanic Garden, entrance here is free. Otherwise you can take the following bus lines to get there: 150, 13, 23

After a relaxing morning through the Botanical Garden let’s go to the Joan Miró Foundation. Founded by Miró himself it shows its pivate collection with the aim to set up an internationally recognized centre in Barcelona.

The foundation today organizes temporary exhibitions of 20th and 21st century artists and accademy projects.

The entrance is free and it is open from 10am to 6 pm during winter season, from 10am to 8pm during summer season, on Mondays it is closed.

Another important stop in this neighborhood is the National Art Catalunya museum. This museum contains different artworks; each from a different time, especially from romanique art. With the Barcelona Card the entrance is free.

Let’s take advantage of the efficient Barcelona bus service to reach Placa Catalunya. This square is considered the heart of Barcelona, it is a meeting point for its citiziens. Since the past it has been the nerve centre of the city. So take your time to have a short walk around here and reach the most famous street in Barcelona, La Rambla. On the right side is El Raval, an old neighborhood in Barcelona where you can pay a visit into MACBA, Barcelona Museum Contemporary Art. Here there are collections from art, desgin and artistic collection. This is also one of the most famous skating areas of the world. Entrance to the museum is free with the Barcelona Card.

4th Day

The fourth and final day in Barcelona marks the last opportunity to discover the city and go back home satisfied about the trip.

So up until now this tour has taken you to the oldest parts of the city and has let you to discover the best of Gaudi’s and Barcelona’s artworks and buildings.

The last part of the city is the sea side, most commonly known as Barceloneta. Let’s start from the Columbus Monument, wich was presented in 1880 during the Universal Exhibition and is located at the end of La Rambla.

This monument has been made to commemorate Columbus’ stop in Barcelona’s harbour on his way to the Americas. Visiting the monument you will have the possibility to admire the sculpture ensemble around the base of the colomn which represents a typical Corinthian-style. Take the lift inside the colomn to get to the top of the monument and enjoy the amazing 360 degrees view.

With Barcelona Card this trip is not expensive at all, the card guarantees a 50% discount, making the tickets only €3.

Located next to the Colombus Monument is Maritim Museum. In this museum there are different historical exhibitions and the link between them is the sea. Take advantage of 20% discount and visit this museum to get involved with Barcelona’s maritim history.

If you have some time left on this day, please don’t hesitate to go to the Carmel Bunkers (El Carmel) and enjoy an afternoon or even a sunset here. From here you have a phenomenal view on the city of Barcelona and you could walk to Parc Guell. It is a beautiful place that you should definitely try to visit.
